Your projection
| By month | SEO cost to date | Gross profit to date | Net |
|---|
A projection from the numbers above, not a forecast of what will happen. Rankings, click-through rates and conversion rates all move, and nobody can promise a position in Google.
You get your projection month by month, the July 2026 click-through rates for positions 1 to 10 with and without an AI Overview, and the assumptions you used, so you can put it in front of a finance team. We’ll ask you to confirm your email first, then send it. That is the only email you’ll get, unless you tick the box below.
SEO ROI is the gross profit that organic search brings in, minus what the SEO costs, divided by what the SEO costs. The hard part is the gross profit, because it has to be projected from search volume before any of it exists. The calculator works it through one step at a time.
Visits = monthly searches × click-through rate
Leads = visits × visit-to-lead rate
Pipeline = leads × value of a customer
Customers = leads × lead-to-customer rate
New revenue = customers × value of a customer
SEO ROI = (gross profit − SEO cost) ÷ SEO cost
Rankings don’t arrive on day one, so the calculator ramps traffic up in a straight line from the first month to the month you expect to reach the position, then holds it. Payback is the first month in which the gross profit to date covers the SEO cost to date. Each customer is counted once, in the month they are won, at the value you enter, so repeat revenue after the first year is left out and the result errs on the low side for a subscription business.
Worked example. Keywords with 5,000 searches a month between them, ranked in position 3 at a 3.89% click-through rate, bring about 195 visits a month. At a 2% visit-to-lead rate and 1 lead in 10 closing, that is about 3.9 leads and 0.4 customers a month. At $12,000 a deal, the leads are about $46,680 of pipeline a month (every lead counted at full value, before the close rate), and the customers about $4,668 of new revenue a month, or $3,501 of gross profit at a 75% margin. Against $3,000 a month of SEO and a six-month ramp, the spend pays back in month 18, and the return over 24 months is about 5%. The same keywords in position 1, at 20.02%, pay back in the first month once they rank. Position is most of the answer.
| Position | No AI Overview | With an AI Overview |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20.02% | 9.69% |
| 2 | 10.36% | 3.69% |
| 3 | 3.89% | 1.70% |
| 4 | 1.71% | 1.27% |
| 5 | 1.08% | 1.02% |
| 6 | 0.73% | 0.55% |
| 7 | 0.46% | 0.35% |
| 8 | 0.47% | 0.34% |
| 9 | 0.45% | 0.47% |
| 10 | 0.58% | 0.43% |

An SEO ROI calculator is only as honest as its inputs. For a B2B SaaS or fintech company, three things move the answer most.
If you already rank for something, replace the click-through rate with your own from Google Search Console: it beats any study.
Subtract what the SEO cost from the gross profit it brought in, then divide by what it cost. To project it before you start, turn search volume into visits with a click-through rate for your expected position, visits into leads and customers with your conversion rates, and customers into revenue and gross profit.
It depends on how fast you rank and how much each customer is worth, so there is no single figure. Enter your own months to rank and the calculator shows the payback month. As a yardstick for the whole acquisition budget, the 2026 Aleph and Benchmarkit median CAC payback for B2B SaaS is 16 months.
Your own, from Google Search Console, if you already rank. Otherwise, Advanced Web Ranking’s July 2026 desktop figures are 20.02% for position 1, 10.36% for position 2 and 3.89% for position 3, falling below 2% from position 4.
Yes. In the same July 2026 data, position 1 gets a 9.69% click-through rate when an AI Overview appears, against 20.02% without one. Tick the AI Overview box and the calculator uses the lower rates.
No. It is a projection from the assumptions you enter. Nobody can promise a Google ranking, and conversion rates change as traffic grows. Use it to decide whether a keyword set is worth pursuing, and to see which assumption the answer depends on.
No. The result shows on screen. The email is only if you want the projection and the CTR sheet sent to you, and the newsletter is a separate box you can leave unticked.
